Frequently asked questions
How the board works, what the numbers mean, and what your money buys.
What exactly counts as "blowing up"?
We measure how fast attention is growing compared to that product’s own normal, not how big it is. A small tool having its biggest day ever outranks a giant having an ordinary one, and momentum is cross-checked across sources so one lucky post does not fake a trend.
How is the percentage calculated?
Each product’s engagement over the last 24 hours (points, upvotes, votes, new stars, with comments counting for less) is compared against its own average day over the previous week. The number is that change: +300% means roughly four times its normal day, +0% means business as usual. Because every product is measured against its own baseline, staying big scores nothing; only accelerating does.
Where do the signals come from?
Public activity on Hacker News, Product Hunt, GitHub, Lobsters, Bluesky and launch sites like BetaList, with more sources on the way. Every product page shows the receipts: the actual posts, linked, so you can verify everything yourself.
How fresh is the board?
It recomputes every hour, 100 ranks deep. Free accounts see the top 10 (top 3 live, ranks 4-10 on a 24 hour delay). Pro sees all 100 ranks the moment they update.
What is the "why it’s blowing up" text?
Every top mover gets a short written summary of the actual posts behind the spike: where the attention is coming from and what people are saying. It refreshes as the story changes.
What is Rising and why is it Pro only?
Rising is products accelerating hard but not loud enough for the main board yet. It is the earliest useful signal we have, which is exactly why it is the paid one.
Can I export the data or get an API?
Not yet. It is next on the list, and Pro members will get it first. If you need it for something specific, tell us and you will move it up the list.
How does billing work? Can I cancel?
Payments and invoices run on Polar. Cancel anytime from the billing portal on your account page; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. If something is broken, write in and we will make it right.
Is the free plan really free forever?
Yes. It is a smaller window on the same board, not a trial that expires.
